Is Speaq free?
Yes. Anonymous text and voice matching, and the Speaq AI conversation partner, are free with no signup and no subscription required to start.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Speaq uses anonymous, on-the-spot sessions. You do not need an email address, phone number, or password to start a conversation.
Is Speaq safe to use?
Speaq is text and voice only, with no video. Removing video cuts out most of the abuse that made older random-video sites unsafe. You can end any conversation instantly and get matched with someone else, with no explanation needed. Never share your full name, address, financial details, or other identifying information with a stranger.
Is Speaq an Omegle alternative?
Yes. Omegle shut down in November 2023 after 14 years of random video and text chat. Speaq serves the same anonymous talk-to-strangers need, but focuses on text and voice instead of video.
What happens if nobody else is online?
Speaq AI, a large-language-model conversation partner, steps in automatically so you are never left staring at an empty matching queue. You can also invite a friend directly using a share link to guarantee a real match.
When is the best time to find a real person on Speaq?
Speaq runs a nightly live window at 10 PM IST (22:00 to 23:00), when the most real users are online at the same time for live matching. Outside that window you are more likely to be matched with Speaq AI.
Does Speaq have video chat?
No, by design. Speaq is voice and text only. This keeps conversations lower-pressure and removes the camera-based harassment that affected older random-video platforms.
Can I use Speaq to practice a language?
Yes. Many people use Speaq's live voice matching or the Speaq AI partner as a low-pressure way to practice speaking English or another language without the stakes of a formal class.
Is Speaq available on Android?
Yes, an Android beta is available. See the Android Beta link in the app footer for the current build.
How is Speaq different from Discord or group chat apps?
Discord and similar apps are built around persistent servers, profiles, and communities you join and return to. Speaq is built for a single anonymous 1:1 conversation right now, with no server to join and no history that follows you.
Are my conversations saved?
Live conversations are intended to be ephemeral. Only memories you explicitly choose to save with Speaq AI persist between sessions; raw conversation content is not built to be a permanent record.
What should I do if someone makes me uncomfortable?
Leave the conversation immediately and start a new match. There is no obligation to explain why, and anonymity means the other person has no way to find or contact you afterward.
